on diana’s shelf →"peter parker is neglecting his community, hes neglecting his life, hes neglecting the fact that he is a human being that needs love and connection and warmth and he relies on the people around him. so i really hope when people see this film they realize the importance of that lesson that reaching out to your friends to ask for help is so important." I think one of my favorite things about spider-man (i have a lot) is how he treats being spider-man as a coping mechanism &/or escape. it really depends on the adaptation but in brand new day it almost feels like being spider-man full time is a form of self-harm for peter. - ignoring his grief and everything that comes with being peter parker. hes using it as an escape. other adaptations of spider-man have done this trope sometimes but i havent seen anything do it as well as this. multiple times during the movie dewolff & others mentions how peter is constantly in the mask "do you do anything besides work?" and being spider man full time and not focusing on himself under the mask. I believe that the light jabs that are seen as just comedy at first glance like him not taking off the mask to drink coffee or get in the sauna (sorry, yelenas office) are more slight hints at him spending more time in the mask than he does out of it. also, banner saying "what if you're trying to control the expression of something that needs to be expressed?" when talking to peter about the hypothetical dna stuff. i saw someone say that his arachnid taking over was an analogy for mental health issues taking over and its just so....omg theres so many small mentions of it in the movie that all combine into one big picture of peter struggling and i think its a good representation of mental health in general and this isnt even touching on the whole scene after he saw mj kissing another guy at the housewarming party. peter parker i love you i could talk about this movie for hours

on spiderunderyourbed’s shelf →this movie. while not being exactly what i was expecting, reminded me why the hell i love spiderman so much and really did do a good job at tying jean grey into ts without making it feel too tacky. i also appreciate that the forgetting peter thing was not resolved in one fell swoop but actually is still occurring. i also LOVE MY MAN JON BERNTHAL and his character had me dead this whole movie
