this was really interesting to me. i'm not entirely sure what to make of it. personally, i think it should've been longer and more fleshed out, but the shortness of it definitely symbolizes how fast things can change. i went into this book knowing nothing but the fact that it's the same universe as The Outsiders. i think of this book as a PSA in a way; don't do drugs, don't sell them, and don't even go near them. it works for the time it was published. obviously that's not the main point of this book. the constant "what if?" themes are really interesting to me as well, especially because i do that same thing. everything depends on everything else, the things that led you to that situation in the first place and the things happening around you. i often think about those things for everything i read and watch, and this book does it for me. had the circumstances been different, what would have happened? it's really curious to see that in a book. i enjoyed this thoroughly, and it's a great short read.
